Abstract Philosophy Doesn’t Raise Kids

The adult in the libertarian room

I recently joined Adam Haman for the 200th episode of his podcast. The room was full of serious thinkers—Scott Horton, Stephan Kinsella, and others.

It was a milestone. I was honored. But I wasn’t there to nod along with ideological reflexes.

If you want to know what I’m building here, this episode is the window. Watch the two-hour gauntlet here:

Somewhere along the line, we hit on the topic of national divorce. As one might expect, my take was blunt:

We’re already divorced.
Mom and Dad just haven’t moved out yet.

Two irreconcilable factions are living under one roof, screaming about the thermostat, pretending “reconciliation” is an option. It isn’t.

While the theorists also debated Epstein files and conspiracies, I stuck to the facts.

Here’s the thing: Powerful people protect each other. That’s a given.

But when you fill the blanks with your imagination, you aren’t an analyst.
You’re a fan-fiction writer.

Assume the worst about powerful institutions, then make them prove it.

The libertarian worldview has insights, but it often mistakes the “abolition of constraints” for freedom.

Newsflash: Abstract philosophy doesn’t raise kids.

You can decentralize until the cows come home. Someone still must answer for the schools, the streets, the borders, and the culture we hand to our children.

Here’s another thing: I don’t care about ideology. Libertarianism, liberalism, neoconservatism, communism, fascism… they are all ideologies.

I care about the “permanent things”—historical custom, gradual reform, and a moral order. Such are the principles that keep society from eating itself.

So, what works for the guy without a podcast or a degree? What protects the small business, the neighborhood, and the Church?

The answers to those questions are the foundation of the new BrianDOLeary.com.

The site is live. It’s the home base for my writing, podcasts, and business.

As for you? Stop chasing algorithms. Stop being a “content creator” for platforms that hate you.

Build something durable.
Build something uncancelable.

If you’ve got a take that nobody else is saying, act on it.

I laid out the exact map for building your own territory in Your Substack Success Blueprint. Stop being a tenant. Become a landlord.
